To provide a comprehensive view of Japan’s seismic hazard, the model incorporates independent research by AIR seismologists conducted on the impact of the Tohoku earthquake on nearby seismic sources as well as results from a broad range of scientific studies, including those carried out by Japan’s Headquarters for Earthquake Research Promotion (HERP).
